Orvosi tanulm\u00e1nyait a P\u00e1zm\u00e1ny P\u00e9ter Tudom\u00e1nyegyetemen v\u00e9gezte. 1948-ban negyed\u00e9ves medikusk\u00e9nt l\u00e9pett be az akkor alap\u00edtott Bakteriol\u00f3giai, a jelenlegi Orvosi Mikrobiol\u00f3giai Int\u00e9zetbe, amelynek \u00e9lete v\u00e9g\u00e9ig, csaknem nyolc \u00e9vtizeden \u00e1t meghat\u00e1roz\u00f3 tagja volt.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00cdgy eml\u00e9kezett az elhunyt professzorra Szab\u00f3 D\u00f3ra, az Orvosi Mikrobiol\u00f3giai Int\u00e9zet igazgat\u00f3ja az MTA honapj\u00e1n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kezdett\u0151l fogva r\u00e9szt vett az oktat\u00f3- \u00e9s kutat\u00f3munk\u00e1ban. Az Int\u00e9zetben a teljes egyetemi rangl\u00e9tr\u00e1t v\u00e9gigj\u00e1rva 1969-ben egyetemi tan\u00e1ri kinevez\u00e9st nyert. Majd 1974 \u00e9s 1994 k\u00f6z\u00f6tt k\u00e9t \u00e9vtizeden \u00e1t az Orvosi Mikrobiol\u00f3giai Int\u00e9zet igazgat\u00f3ja volt. A Gy\u00f3gyszer\u00e9sztudom\u00e1nyi Kar d\u00e9k\u00e1nhelyettesek\u00e9nt, majd az egyetem tudom\u00e1nyos rektorhelyettesek\u00e9nt is f\u00e1radhatatlanul dolgozott a magas szint\u0171 hazai orvosk\u00e9pz\u00e9s\u00e9rt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kutat\u00f3i p\u00e1ly\u00e1ja kezdet\u00e9n orvosi bakteriol\u00f3gi\u00e1val foglalkozott, legjelent\u0151sebb nemzetk\u00f6zi sikereit azonban az orvosi virol\u00f3gia, azon bel\u00fcl is a hum\u00e1n-adenov\u00edrusok kutat\u00e1sa ter\u00e9n \u00e9rte el. A tud\u00f3s 1956-ban megalap\u00edtotta az Int\u00e9zet Adenov\u00edrus Kutat\u00f3csoportj\u00e1t, \u00e9s munkat\u00e1rsaival els\u0151k\u00e9nt izol\u00e1lt adenov\u00edrusokat Magyarorsz\u00e1gon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00datt\u00f6r\u0151 munk\u00e1t v\u00e9gzett az adenov\u00edrusok patol\u00f3giai jelent\u0151s\u00e9g\u00e9nek tiszt\u00e1z\u00e1s\u00e1ban, valamint molekul\u00e1ris \u00e9s krist\u00e1lyszerkezet\u00e9nek felt\u00e9rk\u00e9pez\u00e9s\u00e9ben. Nemzetk\u00f6zileg elismert szaktekint\u00e9lyk\u00e9nt r\u00e9szt vett a Nemzetk\u00f6zi V\u00edrustaxon\u00f3miai Bizotts\u00e1gban \u00e9s az UNESCO Eur\u00f3pai V\u00edruskutat\u00e1si H\u00e1l\u00f3zat\u00e1nak vezet\u0151s\u00e9g\u00e9ben is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Az ir\u00e1ny\u00edt\u00e1sa alatt m\u0171k\u00f6d\u0151 kutat\u00f3csoportban t\u00f6bb mint harminc k\u00f6zvetlen munkat\u00e1rsa szerzett tudom\u00e1nyos fokozatot. Kimagasl\u00f3 eredm\u00e9nyeit az MTA 1979-ben levelez\u0151, majd 1985-ben rendes tags\u00e1ggal ismerte el.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A j\u00f6v\u0151 orvos-, fogorvos- \u00e9s gy\u00f3gyszer\u00e9szgener\u00e1ci\u00f3inak k\u00e9pz\u00e9s\u00e9t is sz\u00edv\u00fcgy\u00e9nek tekintette: az \u00e1ltala \u00edrt \u00e9s szerkesztett Mikrobiol\u00f3gia \u00e9s immunit\u00e1stan c\u00edm\u0171 egyetemi tank\u00f6nyv t\u00edz kiad\u00e1st meg\u00e9rve v\u00e1lt a hazai orvosk\u00e9pz\u00e9s alapm\u0171v\u00e9v\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nev\u00e9hez f\u0171z\u0151dik az 1998-ban alap\u00edtott, az Int\u00e9zetben tal\u00e1lhat\u00f3 Mikrobiol\u00f3giai M\u00fazeum \u00e9s Arch\u00edvum is, amely maradand\u00f3 eml\u00e9ket \u00e1ll\u00edt a hazai mikrobiol\u00f3giai \u00e9s v\u00edruskutat\u00e1snak, egy helyen gy\u0171jtve \u00f6ssze a szakma legfontosabb t\u00f6rt\u00e9neti dokumentumait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Munk\u00e1ss\u00e1g\u00e1t t\u00f6bbek k\u00f6z\u00f6tt Sz\u00e9chenyi-d\u00edjjal, a Magyar K\u00f6zt\u00e1rsas\u00e1gi \u00c9rdemrend k\u00f6z\u00e9pkeresztje, valamint a Magyar \u00c9rdemrend k\u00f6z\u00e9pkeresztje a csillaggal kit\u00fcntet\u00e9ssel ismert\u00e9k el.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nyugodt, b\u00f6lcs term\u00e9szete, t\u00fcrelme \u00e9s al\u00e1zata miatt koll\u00e9g\u00e1i, tan\u00edtv\u00e1nyai \u00e9s tisztel\u0151i k\u00f6r\u00e9ben is \u00e1ltal\u00e1nos szeretet \u00f6vezte.
