Egykor, az \u00f3kori R\u00f3m\u00e1ban, febru\u00e1r 13 \u00e9s 15 k\u00f6z\u00f6tt tartott\u00e1k meg a p\u00e1sztor\u00fcnnepeket, tiszt\u00edt\u00f3 szertart\u00e1sokkal \u00e9s term\u00e9kenys\u00e9gi r\u00edtusokkal. Az \u00f3kori r\u00f3maiak tett\u00e9k mindezt a farkas alakban tisztelt isten, Lupercus kedv\u00e9\u00e9rt. Kiengesztel\u00e9s\u00e9re a papok februa, vagyis kecskeb\u0151r, sz\u00edjjal ostorozt\u00e1k a fiatalokat, k\u00f6zt\u00fck is els\u0151sorban a n\u0151ket, hogy ezzel \u00e1tessenek a ritu\u00e1lis tisztul\u00e1son, \u00e9s a ver\u00e9s \u00e1ltal term\u00e9kenny\u00e9 v\u00e1ljanak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Azt\u00e1n az id\u0151 m\u00fal\u00e1s\u00e1val, \u00e9s a kereszt\u00e9nys\u00e9g terjed\u00e9s\u00e9vel az \u00fcnnep hum\u00e1nusabb\u00e1 v\u00e1lt, \u00e9s egybeforrt Szent B\u00e1lintnak, a szerelmesek v\u00e9d\u0151szentj\u00e9nek \u00fcnnep\u00e9vel. Magyarorsz\u00e1gon ez a nap mind\u00f6ssze az elm\u00falt \u00e9vtizedekben v\u00e1lt k\u00f6zkedveltt\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terni egykori p\u00fcsp\u00f6ke, akit II. Claudius cs\u00e1sz\u00e1r idej\u00e9ben, febru\u00e1r 14-\u00e9n v\u00e9geztek ki, a 14. sz\u00e1zadban v\u00e1lt szentt\u00e9. B\u00e1lint p\u00fcsp\u00f6k, m\u00e9g kiv\u00e9gz\u00e9se el\u0151tt, puszt\u00e1n hit\u00e9nek erej\u00e9vel visszaadta b\u00f6rt\u00f6n\u0151re vak le\u00e1ny\u00e1nak l\u00e1t\u00e1s\u00e1t. A hagyom\u00e1ny szerint a l\u00e1nynak b\u00facs\u00fa\u00fczenetet k\u00fcld\u00f6tt \u201eTe B\u00e1lintod\u201d al\u00e1\u00edr\u00e1ssal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Valentin-nap \u00fcnnepe legink\u00e1bb az angolsz\u00e1sz orsz\u00e1gokban terjedt el. M\u00e1ra ezt a napot \u00e1tsz\u00f6vi a hagyom\u00e1ny, de az \u00f3kori hagyom\u00e1nyokb\u00f3l legink\u00e1bb a kellemes r\u00e9sz maradt fenn. A hagyom\u00e1ny szerint ugyanis a fiatal l\u00e1nyok, (szerintem a korb\u00e1cs el\u0151l menek\u00fcltek) ezen a napon kerest\u00e9k fel J\u00fan\u00f3 istenn\u0151t, a h\u00e1zass\u00e1g p\u00e1rtfog\u00f3j\u00e1t, hogy t\u0151le szerelmi j\u00f3slatot kapjanak, \u00e9s megtudj\u00e1k ki lesz a p\u00e1rjuk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

K\u00e9s\u0151bb az angliai nemess\u00e9g k\u00f6r\u00e9ben a 17. sz\u00e1zadban terjedt el a Valentin-naphoz k\u00f6t\u0151d\u0151 lev\u00e9l \u00e9s a vir\u00e1gcsokor k\u00fcld\u00e9s\u00e9nek \u00f6sszekapcsol\u00e1sa, ami azt\u00e1n vil\u00e1gszerte n\u00e9pszer\u0171v\u00e9 v\u00e1lt, hiszen ma m\u00e1r egyik orsz\u00e1gban sincs Valentin-nap kis lev\u00e9lke n\u00e9lk\u00fcl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A j\u00f3 \u00f6reg Eur\u00f3p\u00e1ban azt\u00e1n a m\u00e1sodik vil\u00e1gh\u00e1bor\u00fat k\u00f6vet\u0151en az amerikai katon\u00e1k terjesztett\u00e9k el a Valentin-nap hagyom\u00e1ny\u00e1t. N\u00e9metorsz\u00e1gban az els\u0151 Valentin-napi b\u00e1lt 1950-ben tartott\u00e1k meg, N\u00fcrnbergben. Innen indult Eur\u00f3pa szerte \u00e1ltal\u00e1nosan ismert, h\u00f3d\u00edt\u00f3 \u00fatj\u00e1ra a szerelmesek napja. Gyan\u00edthat\u00f3, hogy a gyors terjed\u00e9s\u00e9ben nagy r\u00e9sz\u00fck volt a vir\u00e1gtermeszt\u0151knek, \u00e9s az \u00e9dess\u00e9giparnak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Napjaink m\u00e1r Magyarorsz\u00e1gon is egyre nagyobb n\u00e9pszer\u0171s\u00e9gnek \u00f6rvend B\u00e1lint napja. Ezen a napon a szerelmesek megaj\u00e1nd\u00e9kozz\u00e1k egym\u00e1st, \u00e9s napjainkban m\u00e1r nem csak a vir\u00e1g, a lev\u00e9lke vagy a csokol\u00e1d\u00e9 a divat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eg\u00e9sz ipar\u00e1g \u00e9p\u00fclt ki a modern kor Valentin-napj\u00e1ra.
